While we’re united with the global call for environment conservation and adaptation of vegan living, no, we’re not talking here of tree planting or munching on mixed vegetables. Instead, we’re flashing the green light to welcome 2013 with Edge Davao’s own take on style and trends. Presenting, our first fashion editorial for the year.

Through the years, we’ve seen how the wide range of vivid and vibrant tones weave new designs into the fashion scene, sparking imaginations and motivating purchasing decisions. Every designer and retail giant relies heavily on forecast for inspiration for next season’s collection. This time around, PANTONE, the universal color authority and every design professional’s most reliable source of color information, picks Green as its top hue for the year 2013.

The birth of green in fashion first sprung in the midst of the environmental awareness in the 90’s. The green branding is closely defined around the values of eco-living. Eventually, the prevalence of green rose in couture markets, and we began to see more hints of green translations in boutique racks and runway shows.

As it takes a stronger presence in 2013, the most prevalent shade of green is predicted to be that of the verdant gemstone, emerald.

This luminous, magnificent hue is the color of sophistication, life, prosperity, and beauty. Such color serves its purpose in fashion as its classic elegance makes well for stunning women’s formal, daily wear, and accessories. While it screams of elegance and luxury, it is, first and foremost, a neutral color that promote harmony to every outfit. Whatever piece of green you wear will complement the other elements of your ensemble. However, while this shade enlivens all colors in the spectrum, it is best matched with tan, black, blue, yellow, and purple. Designers Michael Kors and Vivienne Tam were right on the money when they featured emerald green in their recent runway shows. Soon after that, Hollywood celebrities donned themselves in green for red carpet events.

Sashay in your best street armor by incorporating an element of emerald green into your getup. Styling in this color is perfect for everyone living in the metro as it calls to mind a sense of clarity and rejuvenates the soul amidst the fast paced city life and buzz. This shade is the most relaxing to the eye, and balance is something people pick up and listen to. In effect, it commands attention and ushers in appreciation from on lookers. This is also an all-weather appropriate tone which effortlessly gives you a fresher feel, come rain or come shine.
